Your eyes do not deceive you. It’s big, for sure. It’s certainly egg-shaped. But – for the first time ever – the iconic ceramic of a Big Green Egg is a colour other than racing green.
The new Onyx EGG has the inky gleam of the gemstone it was named after. But, out of respect for 50 years of heritage, the deep black of the glaze is tempered with a subtle hint of green.
The Onyx is available as a Large EGG only. Because of the limited stock of this special edition, it is currently exclusive to members of the Big Green Egg Club, our free online community.

The beauty of The Onyx runs deeper than its sleek dark glaze. This is the first model to showcase two significant upgrades to the basic functionality of the EGG.
The Onyx is great to stand and look at. It’s even better to cook on.
1. Quicker to light
The Quick Light Kit, which allows you to light the coals from below, makes firing up the EGG quicker and cleaner and leads to more even heat distribution.
2. Easier to set up
The Dual Zone System makes it much easier to set up and switch between the EGG’s many cooking modes. It even allows you to use multiple modes simultaneously.
