Handmade English Cedar Feasting Table
Add something very special to your garden and your social life with this limited-edition cedar feasting table. Designed to enliven the alfresco dining experience, it brings the Big Green Egg – and the cook – into the heart of the gathering.
Created by acclaimed joiner and furniture maker Oli Carter, each tabletop is carved from a single slice of the same magnificent centuries-old English cedar tree. Oli shapes the edges to follow the gently undulating contours of the wood, making every piece completely unique. Inspired by the ancient Japanese ‘soshugi ban’ technique, those edges are then blowtorched, preserving the wood while adding a stunning colour contrast. The frameworks and legs, plus the structure that accommodates the EGG, are made locally from high-quality steel. The accompanying benches are produced in exactly the same way.
The table is available in two sizes, one for a MiniMax EGG, one for a Large EGG. There is also an option for the smaller table to be created as a regular garden table, without the EGG structure. Tables can be provided with or without benches.

CARING FOR YOUR FURNITURE
The tops of the tables and benches are finished with a transparent exterior varnish that protects the surface without undermining the natural beauty of the wood. It is not heatproof, so hot cookware should never be placed directly on a tabletop. If stored outdoors, open to the elements, the pieces will require sanding and revarnishing every two years or so.
Because this is a natural product, handmade with minimal processing, you can expect the pieces to undergo subtle changes over the years as the wood ages in the open air. That’s part of its charm, though. Those small cracks and shifts in shape tell a story.
PROTECT AND SERVE
Each table comes with a handmade wooden board, created from offcuts of the cedar planks, with a design that mirrors that of the furniture. It can be used as a chopping board or table mat, protecting that beautiful table top while adding to the overall aesthetic.

A solid wooden tabletop is not light. That’s why every order includes a White Glove delivery service. Our team will bring the table and benches to your home on a convenient date and assemble them for you. Every piece is made to order, with delivery expected after around six weeks.
Currently our White Glove Delivery service is restricted to South East England.

The son of a forester and furniture maker, Oli Carter has been working with wood since his childhood. Across a near 20-year career, he has built a stellar reputation for his adventurous approach, his rare capacity for working with the very largest trees, and his commitment to sustainability, giving new life to wood from trees that have either died naturally or been felled for other reasons. His furniture played a central role in the garden that won both a gold medal and the People’s Choice award at the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show.

All of the cedar tables and benches come with a 12-month warranty.

· Tables and benches are not for indoor use.
· The furniture’s matte finish has high UV resistance, but no direct heat should be applied to any surfaces.
· Surfaces can be cleaned with kitchen sprays, as long as they’re not bleach-based.
· Because the furniture is made from air-dried timber, it will continue to move according to its environment. This is part of the beauty.
· If covered and stored in a warm, damp environment, the furniture may require occasional re-sanding and re-varnishing.
· Over time, the table with naturally begin to silver. If you prefer, it can be darkened by the application of yacht varnish or Danish oil.
· We will supply full care instructions on delivery.
