Open with caution

'Burping' your EGG allows air to slowly and safely enter the dome, preventing any flare-ups that could cause a flash of heat to burn your hand. First, open your dome a few centimetres, slowly and carefully.

And bounce

Bounce the lid slightly for a few seconds. This will allow smoke and heat to escape and oxygen to enter gradually, so you avoid a backdraft.

Lift the lid

It will now be safe to open the dome fully. You'll need to burp your EGG every time you open it.
