Falcon Enamelware X Big Green Egg Oven To Table Pie Dish

Exclusive to Big Green Egg.

Designed for serving family-sized sweet or savoury pies straight from EGG to table, this beautiful enamelware dish has been created in partnership with Falcon Enamelware, an iconic brand embraced by British campers, picnickers and outdoor cooks since the 1920s.

Made from porcelain fused onto heavyweight steel, the 30cm dish is durable, weatherproof, chemical resistant and capable of handling temperatures up to 270°C. This makes it ideal for giving pies a smoky twist by baking them on the EGG. Its size and shape have been formulated to create feasting-style rectangular pies, but you can also use it to cook, assemble or warm other desserts, centrepieces and sides. The familiar ice-white enamel surface is complemented by Big Green Egg’s famous racing green on the base and hand-painted rim.

Fits on MiniMax, Large and XL EGGs.

About Willy’s Pies

As a young chef, Will Lewis learned his craft at some of London’s top restaurants, including Brat, Rochelle Canteen and St. John. While furloughed during the Covid lockdowns, he decided to burn off some energy by making one of his favourite foods – proper pies – and delivering them around London by bike. What started out as side hustle is now a thriving business, with a permanent bakery in London Fields and contracts with the likes of Arsenal FC and Ocado. His pies are revered for the care that goes into their creation, and the quality and generosity of their fillings.

About Falcon Enamelware

Falcon Enamelware has been embedded in British life since the 1920s, when it was founded in the Black Country by local entrepreneur Joe Kleiner. Each product is pressed from a sheet of heavy-gauge steel then covered with a robust enamel coat made from powdered glass. A recent refresh of the brand has preserved the classic look while expanding the range of colours and upgrading the enamelling process to increase the products’ impressive durability. Our collaboration sticks to that tried and tested formula. The same peerless quality. The same famous aesthetic. But green.

FAQs

The enamel is created from powdered glass (no animal bone, unlike some historic forms), with metal oxides added to create the rich colours. Each product is pressed from a sheet of heavy-gauge steel. This is hand dipped in liquid enamel before being fired in a kiln at extremely high temperatures to create a smooth, durable coating. After cooling, the rim is hand painted, and the Big Green Egg logo is added to the base before the whole thing is re-fired.

Falcon Enamelware is dishwasher safe, but for best results, pre-scrub stubborn stains with a scratch-proof sponge or brush. For tough stains, create a paste by mixing baking soda with water, apply it to the surface, then gently scrub in a circular motion. Alternatively, sprinkle salt on the stains, add lemon juice, let it sit, then scrub and rinse. A wooden scraper or spoon can also be used but avoid metal tools to prevent damage. To prevent food from sticking in the first place, lightly oil your enamelware before roasting.

Yes, Falcon Enamelware can be used on an EGG, oven or hob up to 270°C. Place on a grill rack or Baking Stone for even heating and allow it to cool gradually to prevent cracking. It is dishwasher safe. It can also be stored in a freezer as long as there is no rapid change in temperature.

The tonal colours of our Falcon Enamelware products may vary slightly from each other and from those shown on our website. This is due to the manufacturing methods. Each batch is hand dipped in a thick enamel glaze, then fired in the kiln at extremely high temperatures. The coloured pigment in the glaze reacts during the firing process, giving each piece its own unique character.

Yes, it is. If Falcon enamelware is dropped with some force, the outer porcelain layer may chip, revealing the steel beneath. When this happens, the steel naturally oxidises, and the enamelware remains safe to use. In our opinion, it even gains a little more character!
